Founded in 2014, the NJ Dlamini Foundation is a South African non-profit organization committed to empowering rural communities, with a strong focus on supporting children with special needs. Headquartered in Pretoria, the Foundation was established to promote inclusivity and equal access to education for disadvantaged children and their families.
The Foundation was founded on the recognition that children with special needs in rural areas face significant barriers to education, including limited infrastructure, lack of specialised schools, inadequate resources, and persistent societal stigma. These challenges continue to exclude many children from learning opportunities that are essential to their development and future prospects.
Driven by a commitment to inclusivity, empowerment, and accountability, the NJ Dlamini Foundation works to bridge these gaps by advocating for inclusive education, supporting the development of appropriate educational infrastructure, and fostering environments where children with special needs can learn with dignity and support. The Foundation believes that education is a fundamental right and that every child, regardless of ability or background, deserves equal access to opportunity.
Guided by values of partnership and community-driven development, the Foundation prioritises initiatives that respond directly to the needs of rural communities. Its work is centred on collaboration with stakeholders to ensure sustainable and meaningful impact for children and families.
A key focus of the NJ Dlamini Foundation is the development of a Special Needs School in eJozini, representing a long-term commitment to improving access to quality education for children with disabilities in rural South Africa. Through this and other initiatives, the Foundation seeks to contribute to inclusive development and improved educational outcomes.
